You might be wondering who Matt Asiata is. You wouldn't be alone but he's a pretty important name on Sunday as he's been named the Vikings starting running back with Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart inactive on Sunday. Joe Banyard will back him up.
There were rumors early Sunday of both Minnesota backs being out and the Vikings confirmed it when inactives were due:
Vikings Inactives: G B. Fusco, RB T. Gerhart, RB A. Peterson, TE J. Carlson, CB C. Rhodes, QB J. Freeman, CB C. Cook.— Minnesota Vikings (@Vikings) December 15, 2013
Asiata, a 26-year-old undrafted free agent out of Utah, has three career carries for nine yards to go along with one reception for two yards.
Banyard doesn't have a career carry. It might be a long day for the Minnesota offense.
