With Tony Romo probably out for Sunday's NFC East-division title showdown with the Eagles because of a back injury and Kyle Orton likely to start, Dallas needs to sign at least one more quarterback as a backup.
According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, the Cowboys have worked out Tyler Thigpen, Caleb Hanie and John Skelton and have sent all three home without a contract offer.
The team, therefore, is likely to sign David Carr, who La Canfora writes is conducting a separate workout for the team Tuesday afternoon.
Carr was released in the preseason by the Giants after Ryan Nassib and Curtis Painter were tapped as Eli Manning's backups. He's had tryouts with a few teams during the 2013 season, but so far, nothing has come of it.
On Tuesday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones also said it was possible that Romo could be cleared to play.
