Buccaneers safety Dashon Goldson has been fined $60,000 by the NFL for his fourth-quarter helmet-to-helmet hit Sunday on Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey.

Goldson, who signed with Tampa Bay in the offseason, has now been fined a whopping $190,000 this season ($100,000 of which came after a Week 2 suspension for a helmet-to-helmet hit to Saints running back Darren Sproles was reduced), not to mention the $264,705 in lost wages due to his one-game suspension back in November for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Falcons' wide receiver Roddy White.

Bucs coach Greg Schiano defended Goldson following Sunday's game.

"That's bang-bang," the coach said, via the Tampa Bay Tribune. "He had no way of avoiding that, other than settling down on the guy and possibly missing him or hurting himself. It's unfortunate that it happened. The way it's being called, that's going to be called 100 out of 100 times. I hope that it's just a penalty."

And Goldson added: "The new football is discouraging. It's hard. It's really hard. It's deeper than I thought it was."

It's also absurdly expensive.
