The Giants have nothing left to play for this season outside of their draft slot so it makes sense that they won't risk further injury to Eli Manning. Manning limped to the locker room early in the second quarter and was replaced after halftime by Curtis Painter.

Officially, Manning is out for the remainder of the game with an ankle sprain.

Manning threw an interception on his final pass of the 2013 season and suffered an ankle injury during the aftermath.

He didn't come back out with the team to start the second half and Painter took his place under center. (Ryan Nassib is inactive once again.)

Painter's first play was a fumbled snap, which is ... something.

It wouldn't make a lot of sense, really, to play Eli. He's got 27 picks on the year, the Giants are out of the postseason hunt, the Redskins aren't playing for much either and it's rainy and messy at MetLife Stadium.

A smart, but sad, move by the Giant to keep Eli out.
