Drew Brees has a lot of offensive weapons in his arsenal, but he'll be missing one of his main ones when the Saints postseason begins in Philadelphia on Saturday. Running back Pierre Thomas has been ruled out of New Orleans' wild-card game against the Eagles with a chest injury.

Thomas was a surprise addition to the Saints injury report on Wednesday and didn't practice all week. New Orleans coach Sean Payton was asked about Thomas' injury on Thursday, but offered no details, other than to say that the chest injury occurred during the Saints season finale against Tampa Bay.

With Thomas out, that means the Saints won't have their leading rusher and Drew Brees won't have his second favorite target. Thomas leads the team with 549 rushing yards and is second to only Jimmy Graham in receptions. Thomas' 77 receptions in 2013 were a career-high and led all NFL running backs.

The injury to Thomas will likely mean more playing time for Mark Ingram and Darren Sproles. Ingram had one his best games of the season in Week 16 when he ran for 83 yards on just 13 carries in a 17-13 loss to Carolina.
