Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski's season officially ended Dec. 9, when an MRI revealed that he had suffered a torn ACL and MCL during a Week 14 game against the Browns.

Now, according to the Boston Globe, Gronkowski will undergo surgery Thursday to repair the torn ligaments in his right knee.

Dr. James Andrew, who previously consulted with Gronkowski on a forearm injury that sidelined him to start the season, will perform the surgery.

The procedure was delayed four weeks to allow the swelling in Gronkowki's knee to subside. The fourth-year tight end's career has been marred by injuries. This will be his sixth surgery since Nov. 2012, and Gronkowski has missed 14 games the last two seasons, including nine in 2013.

Gronkowski previously had four surgeries on his forearm, and back surgery on a herniated disc that kept him out of the lineup for the first six weeks of the 2013 season.

Meanwhile, the Patriots trudge on. The team will face the Colts in the AFC Divisional game Saturday night.
