The Texans, led by then-coach Gary Kubiak, were one of the most disappointing teams in all of football last season. After back-to-back playoff appearances in 2011 and 2012, the Texans finished 2-14 in 2013 and secured the No. 1 overall pick while also saying goodbye to the fired Kubiak.

But another team in need of an offensive-minded coach thinks Kubiak might be its man, as the Lions official website reported that the organization interviewed Kubiak on Monday.

"He seems to fit the profile the Lions have set up for their new head coach," writes reporter Tim Twentyman. "He's an offensive-minded coach with a history of working with quarterbacks and has head coaching experience."

Kubiak went 61-64 during his eight years in Houston, and with the exception of 2013, the offense consistently ranked in the NFL's top-10 since 2008. And it's clear the Lions want an offensive-driven coach. The team reports Detroit is expected to interview former Titans coach Mike Munchak, and CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora wrote a few days ago that Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt, formerly the Cardinals head coach, could be a good match in Detroit.

More from La Canfora: "The Lions are prizing previous head coaching experience in this search, and Whisenhunt went to the Super Bowl in Arizona. Detroit interviewed former Colts coach Jim Caldwell last week, who also went to a Super Bowl. All things being equal, the Lions are interested in offensive-minded coaches, with getting quarterback Matt Stafford sorted out a primary concern there."
