CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Here in the house of Cam Newton, Colin Kaepernick's doing his best to steal the second-half show. The 49ers quarterback marched San Francisco down the field on the 49ers first drive of the second half before using the read option to waltz into the end zone for a rushing touchdown to put the Niners up 20-10 on Carolina.
And then to add injury to insult, Kaepernick pulled off Newton's touchdown celebration.
Yup, that's the Superman celebration. And while Cam doesn't have a copyright on it, everyone knows it's his move.
There's no animosity that I'm aware of between the two quarterbacks; I saw them hug on the field before the game began. But Kaep also made sure to include his own personal celebration as well. You can see Kaepernick kiss his bicep after doing the Superman celebration on the Panthers.
Thus far Kaep's actually been outplayed by Newton. And it's not Newton's fault that the Panthers keep leaving Anquan Boldin in single coverage with Captain Munnerlyn. But Kaepernick's definitely leading on the scoreboard and on the mocking celebration count.
UPDATE: NaVarro Bowman joined the party as well, busting out the Superman celebration following a sack of Newton. The Niners have all the momentum in this game and are mocking the Panthers while grabbing a hold of the game.
