Report: Broncos cornerback Chris Harris has torn ACL

By Josh Katzowitz | NFL Writer

An MRI on cornerback Chris Harris, one of the most important members of the Broncos' defense, has confirmed that he tore his ACL in Sunday's win vs. the Chargers, according to USA Today's Lindsay H. Jones.

Harris -- who recorded 65 tackles and three interceptions this season -- injured himself in the third quarter, and he was replaced by Quentin Jammer. It did not go well for Jammer, and now that Harris is apparently out for the playoffs, Denver's defense -- which has played well the past three games after struggling for much of the 2013 season -- just got worse.

"I played like [crud]," Jammer said after the Broncos' win, via the Denver Post. "It wasn't anything physical. It was mental. I was sitting on routes I shouldn't have been sitting on."

With Champ Bailey out for much of the season, Harris' importance grew even more in Denver in 2013, and he responded well, ranking as the No. 9 cornerback in the league according to Pro Football Focus' metrics (he also ranked fifth in the league in 2012).

The Broncos' defense already is playing without Von Miller, Rahim Moore and Derek Wolfe. And now that list reportedly includes Harris.
