The NFL named Terry McAulay as the head referee for Super Bowl XLVIII on Wednesday.

McAulay will lead a crew seven officials on the biggest stage Sunday February 2, 2014 in MetLife Stadium.

Among the other members of the Super Bowl XLVIII officiating crew are umpire Carl Paganelli, head linesman Jim Mello, line judge Tom Symonette, field judge Scott Steenson, side judge Dave Wyant and back judge Steve Freeman.

Between those seven men, they have a whopping 110 years of officiating experience between them.

This will be McAulay's third Super Bowl that he's worked. He previously officiated Super Bowl XXXIX (featuring the Patriots over the Eagles) and Super Bowl XLIII (featuring the Steelers over the Cardinals).

Paganelli will be working his fourth Super Bowl and Steenson will be working his second Super Bowl.

McAulay previously worked the Saints-Seahawks matchup during the divisional round.

The NFL requires that officials must be rated in the top tier at their position to be eligible for the Super Bowl assignment. Officials must also have five years of experience in the NFL and have previously officiated playoff games.
