Minnesota Vikings running back and former league MVP Adrian Peterson will visit a specialist in Philadelphia to decide if surgery is necessary on his groin, according to USA Today.

Peterson recently dropped out of the Pro Bowl, and he also missed two of the Vikings' final three games of the season.

According to the report, a minimally-invasive surgery is possible if Peterson opts to go that route that would only require about a two-month recovery period.

Peterson, 28, finished the season with 1,266 rushing yards in 14 games.
