NEW YORK -- The nature of the Super Bowl is such that little things are scrutinized to the Nth degree. For example: the Seahawks setup for Media Day on Tuesday day doesn't feature Marshawn Lynch on a podium.

Big deal? Nope, not really. But KIND OF. You see, Lynch is the starting running back for the Seahawks. He's one of the four or five bigger stars on the entire roster. (You could argue he's the second-biggest name behind Richard Sherman, really.)

But Lynch doesn't like speaking with the media and it's possible that he won't be very available. Players that aren't given podiums are supposed to be milling around the

Lynch spoke about this recently, telling NFL.com's Mike Silver that when he's "forced" to speak with the media it "takes away from the whole experience."

"If you're forced to do something, it's not as good as if you choose to do it," Lynch said. "So no, I won't have a lot of interesting things to say. When you're forced to do something and you know it, it kind of just takes away from the whole experience of what it could be if [it were] natural. So, I'll probably give forced answers."

Unfortunately for Lynch, if he decides not to show up to Media Day -- and there's a pretty good chance he won't -- the biggest thing being taken away from him is the massive fine the NFL will levy on him for not showing up.

Falcons defensive end Osi Umenyiora, then with the Giants, was nailed with a $20,000 fine for missing Media Day two years ago. Given that Lynch is already dealing with a $50,000 appeal for not speaking with the press, skipping Media Day on Tuesday could cost him even more.

It's a shame, too, because Lynch's media sessions make Bill Belichick look straight-up loquacious.
