49 degrees at kickoff of Super Bowl XLVIII

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer

NEW YORK -- What the NFL wants, the NFL gets. And though Roger Goodell doesn't have power over Mother Nature, things worked out nicely for the league on Sunday at Super Bowl XLVIII, as it was a balmly 49 degrees at kickoff.

Any concern that it might be too cold or too windy for Peyton Manning and the Broncos offense to operate never came close to fruition.

In fact, it was warmer in New Jersey than it was in Denver (24 degrees at kickoff) or even in Seattle (44 degrees at kickoff).

As a matter of fact, there were more degrees (49) than there were numbers in this Super Bowl (48).
