Report: RB Peyton Hillis signs two-year deal with Giants

When the Buccaneers waived running back Peyton Hillis last preseason, his career was most certainly in jeopardy. But when the Giants lost David Wilson and then Brandon Jacobs midway through the season, New York signed Hillis off the street to a deal and he responded decently enough, gaining 247 yards and scoring two touchdowns in seven games.

Though Hillis seemingly is done as an every-down back -- his 3.4 yards per carry average from 2013 was the worst in his declining career -- he reportedly will be back in New York next season, signing a two-year deal with the Giants worth $1.8 million, according to the Newark Star Ledger.

Even with the deal, Hillis is likely nothing more than an insurance policy, considering the future of Wilson, with his neck injury, is unknown and since it appears that Andre Brown will head into the free agent market.
