Kolb signed with Buffalo before the season, and it seemed like he had a chance to take the starting job when first-round draft pick E.J. Manuel hurt himself in the preseason. But Kolb took a hit to the head during a preseason game vs. the Redskins, suffering a concussion, and the symptoms kept him out for the rest of the season.
Kolb also had suffered head injuries while playing with the Cardinals for two years after coming over from what turned out to be a debacle of a trade from the Eagles.
But the latest hit, while it didn't appear to be ultra-serious while on the field, might have ended Kolb's playing days. Here's a Buffalo News tweet from last August.
At least 3rd career concussion for Kevin Kolb. Hit didn't look serious, but source tells me response in locker room was disconcerting.— Tim Graham (@ByTimGraham) August 25, 2013
So far, Kolb still hasn't been cleared to play.
"What I was told is there is a process and the medical process, he's still going through it and we're waiting for him to come back for another medical check, which is coming up,” coach Doug Marrone said at the NFL combine.
