When former Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks entered free agency, his camp let people know that he wasn't opposed to taking a one-year, prove-it deal in order to potentially cash in next offseason in free agency. Though he came back the next day and said he actually wanted a long-term deal, a one-year deal is reportedly what he took after all.
Nicks, ranked No. 49 on the CBSSports.com free agent list, had a subpar season in his contract year in 2013. He didn't catch a single touchdown pass last season, and that makes two-straight years of disappointments for Nicks.
Now, he'll go to Indianapolis where he'll play with quarterback Andrew Luck -- who gets another weapon to go along with receivers Reggie Wayne and T.Y. Hilton and tight ends Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen.
And Nicks was actually pretty cheap for Indianapolis.
Obviously, Nicks' 1-yr deal for a reported $3.5M (plus incentives) means the Giants decided they didn't want him back.— Dan Graziano (@DanGrazianoESPN) March 14, 2014
