ORLANDO -- Credit Mark Cuban for knowing when and how to make noise in the media. But credit Roger Goodell for laughing off any concerns about the NFL's future too.

Cuban, the Dallas Mavericks owner, said Monday the NFL is "10 years from implosion" claiming the league is too saturated throughout the week with games. Goodell's counterpoint? "Our fans want those games." Patriots owner Robert Kraft disagreed and Roger Goodell echoed his sentiments (without actually having heard Cuban's specific comments) by stating that "our fans want those games."

We've taken a very incremental and thoughtful approach how we've taken more games to a national platform. And that's in large part driven by our fans — our fans want those games. We see the reaction of the fans. We see the reaction by the viewership. And we see the reaction by the media companies. We've moved in this case on Thursday night to a broadcast platform to allow the fans to enjoy the game. I think this is thoughtful, strategic and in the interest of the fan.

Goodell, for the record, hadn't heard all of Cuban's exact comments. But he knows enough about the league to understand that it's not going to be wiped away in a decade because too many games are being shown on television.

The commish wasn't the only one who disagreed with the Mavs billionaire owner. Patriots owner Robert Kraft said Monday that he respects Cuban but that he's "not sure I agree with his conclusion."

Kraft wouldn't be the only one.
