The Steelers have agreed to a two-year deal with running back LeGarrette Blount, the team announced Friday.

Contract details via the Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson:

Blount, who spent last season with the Patriots where he rushed for 772 yards and seven touchdowns, provides much-needed depth behind Steelers workhorse Le'Veon Bell.

Undrafted coming out of Oregon, the 27-year-old Blount gained 1,007 yards on 201 carries (5.0 YPC) as a rookie with Tampa Bay. In three years with the Bucs, Blount amassed 1,939 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. According to Football Outsiders, Blount ranked 10th in value per play among all NFL running backs in 2013, just behind former teammate Stevan Ridley and just ahead of the Bills' Fred Jackson.

In Pittsburgh, Blount, who is listed at 6-0, 250 pounds, will spell Bell, the 2013 second-round pick who helped revitalize a moribund Steelers run game. This offseason, the team hired former Titans coach Mike Munchak as its offensive line coach, and he's expected to implement a zone-blocking scheme that should make the ground game even more effective.

The Steelers were reportedly interested in James Starks, who ended up re-signing with the Packers, as well as Maurice Jones-Drew, who inked a three-year deal with the Raiders Friday morning. Blount, meanwhile, drew interest from the Patriots and the Ravens.
