For the second time since free agency began on March 11, the New York Jets have raided the AFC West for a wide receiver. The team announced on Tuesday the signing of Jacoby Ford. The former Raiders receiver visited with the Jets on Monday and decided to stick around. The Jets also added cornerback Dimitri Patterson, who also visited with the team on Monday.

Ford is the second receiver the Jets have added in the past month, the team also signed former Broncos receiver Eric Decker.

The Jets won't just be getting a receiver in Ford, they'll also be getting a player who should contend for the team's starting kick return job. Over his four-year career, Ford has a total of four kick return touchdowns, including three in his rookie year of 2010 when he tied Leon Washington for the NFL lead.

However, Ford's numbers have steadily declined since his rookie year. After scoring a total of seven touchdowns in 2010, Ford only has two in the three years since then. The 26-year-old has returned a kickoff for a touchdown since doing it in October 2011 against Cleveland.

The former fourth-round pick has been injury-prone for most of his career. Ford only played in eight games in 2011 before missing the entire 2012 season because of a Lisfranc injury in his foot. Ford played in 14 games for the Raiders last season.

Over his four-year career, Ford has caught a total 57 passes for 848 yards and three touchdowns. The multi-threat has also rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns.

As for Patterson, he started four games for the Dolphins last season and picked off a career-high four passes. Patterson battled a groin injury most of the season and only played in a total of six games before being placed on injured reserve in December.

The Jets will be the fifth team Patterson has played for since entering the league with the Redskins in 2005.
