Everyone knows it's inevitable at this point, even Johnson's camp. His agent, Joel Segal, went so far as to tell Sirius XM he thinks it's just a "matter of time" before Johnson's off the Titans roster.
"Had some communication with Titans management today," Segal said Wednesday. "I think it's a matter of time before Chris won't be with the Titans, just don't know when."
When should be before April 7, when teams with new coaches -- like the Titans -- are allowed to begin offseason workout programs. There's little chance the Titans would risk Johnson suffering a serious injury during one of those programs and having to give him a pile of money, when half the reason he's being shopped is his excessive salary.
Tennessee would certainly love to pull off a trade, but the problem is a soft market for running backs, Johnson's exorbitant salary and a minimal amount of time to make it work.
So what does Segal expect them to do?
"It will be one of those [trade or release] -- I was was wrong with DeSean," Segal said. "I'm not going to guess anymore."
Either way, expect it to happen soon.
