Raiders trade QB Terrelle Pryor to Seahawks for seventh-round pick

The Raiders have traded quarterback Terrelle Pryor to the Seahawks in exchange for a 2014 seventh-round pick, the team announced. ProFootballTalk.com adds that the 49ers were also in the running for Pryor's services. Oakland reportedly would have released Pryor, a supplemental third-round pick in 2011, if it didn't find a trade partner.

Last month, the Raiders traded a late-round pick to the Texans for Matt Schaub because they presumably didn't think a capable starting quarterback was on the roster.

Seems reasonable given that neither Pryor nor Matt McGloin distinguished themselves last season. The former ranked 44th in Football Outsiders' QB metric (ahead of only Brandon Weeden), and the latter was 29th.

(Yes, we know, Schaub was terrible in 2013, but he was still better than Pryor, ranking 35th. But Schaub has played well in the past; he was 12th in 2012 and 10th in 2011, the two years the Texans won the AFC South.)

Raiders coach Dennis Allen wasted little time naming Schaub his starter, and a short time later, Pryor reportedly asked to be traded. And now, a day before Oakland begins its off-season program, Pryor gets his wish.

In three NFL seasons, Pryor started 10 games, completed 56 percent of his passes for 1,953 yards, 9 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also rushed for 627 yards and 3 touchdowns.
