The only thing more difficult than trying to figure out who's going where in the NFL Draft is trying to figure out Tanard Jackson's status with the Redskins.

As CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora first reported on Tuesday, the once-suspended safety was reinstated by the NFL, but the good news didn't last long because hours after the reinstatement, the Redskins released him. Washington has decided its not ready to give up on Jackson though and the team announced on Wednesday that they've re-signed him.

By releasing Jackson and then re-signing him, the Redskins will save a few thousand dollars under the salary cap. Before being cut on Tuesday, Jackson was scheduled to make $700,000 this season. However, that number is likely to drop to around $635,000, according to ESPN.com. Exact terms of Jackson's new deal haven't been disclosed yet.

Whatever the final number is, the Redskins are probably just hoping Jackson will do something to earn the money. Due to suspension, the safety hasn't played one snap in Washington since signing with the team before the 2012 season.

Jackson started 44 games for the Buccaneers in the first three seasons of his NFL career, but he's only played in a total of 12 games since 2010.
