Mike Evans and Sammy Watkins might have been drafted higher on Thursday, but they weren't the ones named college football's top receiver last season. That honor belonged to Biletnikoff Award winner Brandin Cooks, who was selected by New Orleans.

The Saints, who went into the draft with 27th pick, made a trade with Arizona and moved up seven spots to grab Cooks. To make the move, the Saints gave up their third-round pick (91) and Arizona will now get the 27th pick.

CBSSports.com senior writer Pete Prisco liked the trade for New Orleans.

The speedy receiver will give Drew Brees a new weapon after he lost both Lance Moore and Darren Sproles in the offseason. Cooks led college football with 1,730 yards in 2013, a total that includes three games where he went over 195 yards receiving and six games where he caught 10 or more passes.

Since his freshman year in 2011, Cooks has gotten progressively better, which is good news for the Saints. The speedy Cooks, who ran the fastest official time for a receiver at the combine (4.33), should contribute right away in New Orleans.

One of the only downsides to Cooks, according to NFLDraftScout.com, is his height, which has been measured at 5-10. NFLDraftScout.com also notes that Cooks has a tendency to struggle with physical defenders.

Believe it or not, Cooks is the highest drafted receiver to ever come out of Oregon State. Before 2014, Chad Johnson had been the highest selected Beaver receiver. The man formerly known as Ochocinco was taken by the Bengals with the fifth pick in the second round of the 2001 draft.
