Teddy Bridgewater: Cleveland 'not the place where I wanted to be'

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer

We don't really know whether the Browns actually came close to turning in a draft card with Teddy Bridgewater's name on it. We do know they liked him before the draft.

And we also now know, thanks to an appearance from Teddy B. on the Dan Patrick Show Tuesday, that Bridgewater is glad he didn't get picked by the Browns. Asked about rumors of him landing there, Bridgewater called Cleveland "not the place where I wanted to be."

"There was a chance but I actually told my agent that's not the place where I wanted to be," Bridgewater said. "Throughout this entire process I felt comfortable with the Minnesota Vikings through every visit I had with the team. It was a family environment. The players — great group of guys — so I felt comfortable wanting to play here."

Cue the pitchforks in Cleveland. Browns fans aren't going to be happy about this statement even if the team passed over Bridgewater and took Johnny Manziel with the No. 22 overall pick.

But if we're being honest, can you blame Bridgewater at this point?

First of all, he was spurned by Cleveland. So he can be bitter.

Second, the Browns might lose Josh Gordon for an extended amount of time -- possibly the entire season -- and have Greg Little and Andrew Hawkins on the depth chart.

Third, the Vikings have Cordarrelle Patterson and Greg Jennings. Oh and Adrian Peterson. It's just a better situation if we're being honest.
