The Vikings locked down their pair of first-round picks from the 2014 NFL Draft on Tuesday. The team announced a deal with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and reportedly inked linebacker Anthony Barr as well.
Bridgewater was the consensus top quarterback ... until the draft actually happened. He fell deep into the first round until the Vikings swapped spots with the Seahawks and nabbed him at No. 32 overall.
People are concerned about Bridgewater's build and his hand size and all kinds of other things, but he should do pretty well under the tutelage of Norv Turner and is a clear upgrade over Christian Ponder and Matt Cassel, at least for the long haul.
Barr, who signed his deal according to multiple reports, was taken with the No. 9 overall pick in the draft, after the Vikes swapped one spot with the Browns (who took Justin Gilbert).
A somewhat raw product out of UCLA, Barr's a ferocious pass rusher who was kind of a wild card in the draft. He should make an immediate impact chasing NFC North quarterbacks though.
