Forty-Niners tight end Vernon Davis made a $200,00 decision this week and that decision was to skip out on the 49ers offseason training activities (OTAs) that started on May 27 and ended on Thursday.

Davis has a $200,000 workout clause in his contract that requires him to be at the offseason sessions, but he decided not to show up at the voluntary workouts, so he forfeits the money.

Coach Jim Harbaugh didn't sound overly concerned when he was asked about Davis' absence this week, "As you know, the workouts are voluntary," Harbaugh said.

The workouts this week might have been voluntary, but the 49ers do have a mandatory minicamp coming up on June 17 that isn't voluntary. If Davis skips out on that, the team can fine him up to $60,000.

According to CSN Bay Area, the reason Davis didn't show up for OTAs is because he wants a new contract. Davis has two years left on a deal that he signed before the 2010 season. Under terms of that contract, Davis will make $5.1 million and $4.95 million over the next two seasons (2014 and 2015).

Davis led the 49ers with 13 touchdown catches last season, a number that was more than every other 49ers player combined. The 30-year-old was also second on the team in receptions (52) and receiving yards (85), trailing only Anquan Boldin in both categories.
