The Seattle Seahawks have six OTA sessions and a mandatory minicamp scheduled for the month of June, but don't look for Bruce Irvin to be participating in any of them. The Seahawks announced that Irvin underwent hip surgery on Monday.

Although the team didn't announce a timetable for his return, Irvin said on Twitter that he expects to be back by the time the Seahawks begin training camp in July.

It's not clear if Irvin had the surgery to fix an old injury or if the surgery was to repair an injury that Irvin recently suffered. The linebacker practiced with the Seahawks the team's first OTA session in last week.

Irvin started all 12 regular season games he played in last year for the Seahawks. However, he missed the first four games of 2013 as he served a suspension that was handed down after he was found to be in violation of the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

The 2013 season marked Irvin's first year as an outside linebacker. The 2012 first-round pick spent his rookie season playing defensive end before being moved to linebacker in 2013.
