The 49ers are ready to move past the Miami incident and renew negotiations with quarterback Colin Kaepernick. According to the Sacramento Bee, Kaepernick's representatives are set to meet with the 49ers in Santa Clara, Calif., this week.

It's believed to be the first face-to-face meeting between the two sides since February. The rookie contract signed by Kaepernick in 2011 is set to expire after the 2014 season.

Kaepernick's camp had been negotiating an extension with the 49ers for about a month before talks were put on hold following an incident involving Kaepernick at a Miami hotel. Although the investigation isn't officially over, Kaepernick looks to be in the clear and apparently, the 49ers feel the same way.

CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora doesn't believe the incident will affect Kaepernick's asking price. La Canfora expects the quarterback to still be seeking about $20 million a year.

Forty-niners coach Jim Harbaugh has maintained all along that his star quarterback should get a big contract. "He deserves that. That's what he deserves," Harbaugh said in March. "That's what the market pays for that job. Nobody attacks it more than he does. Nobody wants to be great like he does."

General manager Trent Baalke said in March that he'd like to have a Kaepernick extension done by the time training camp starts in July. That goal became a lot more realistic this week: The team received $6.6 million more in 2014 cap space thanks to the fact that former cornerback Carlos Rogers' contract was wiped off the books.

The 49ers also picked up an extra $2.6 million in cap space in mid-May when NaVorro Bowman agreed to restructure his contract.
