You could best describe Thursday's edition of Redskins OTAs was alright, alright, alright, thanks to famous actor and Washington football fan Matthew McConaughey swinging by.
Washington Redskins (@Redskins) June 4, 2014
McConaughey was in town to do a charitable thing -- Alfred Morris was honored for his Walter Payton award and created a "Movies With Morris" event -- involving movies but he should probably feel a little insulted: Redskins players picked five movies but no one picked a McConaughey movie.
That's not the biggest news to come out of all this, though. The biggest news is Jay Gruden not knowing the movie "Dazed and Confused."
Like, not even that Gruden didn't know McConaughey -- who played legendary high-school dropout Wooderson in the film -- was in "Dazed."
He apparently, like several of his players, never heard of it. At all.
From the Redskins quote sheet:
How can you be a self-proclaimed "big movie guy" and not know "Dazed and Confused"???
In fairness to him (I suppose), Gruden was in the middle a season (1993) where he was named the Arena Football League All-Star Game MVP (and just two years removed from rocking some sick Zubaz pants) when the movie was released.
I guess we can give him a pass because he doesn't know the movie. But it'd be a whole lot cooler if he did.
