Brett Favre, whose NFL career spanned two decades, now spends his time in Mississippi coaching high school football, growing an impressive beard and ... throwing his support behind his favorite U.S. Senator.
Incumbent Mississippi senator Thad Cochran is in a heated primary battle with State Senator Chris McDaniel and Favre is doing his part to make sure Cochran keeps his job.
"I've learned through football that strong leadership can be the difference between winning and losing," Favre explains. "And when it comes to our state's future, trust me, Mississippi can win. And win big with Thad Cochran as our strong voice in Washington."
(As NFL.com's Dan Hanzus astutely notes, Favre delivers his message from the back of a maintenance cart at an area golf course.)
If Favre really wants to get out the vote, he should threaten to come out of retirement again unless Cochran is re-elected.
