If you're trying to market something in the state of Ohio -- or even in the state of Texas -- utilizing Johnny Manziel isn't a bad idea. The Akron Rubberducks are all over it.
The Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians recently announced a new Manziel-themed food item, the "Johnny Footlong" hot dog.
The dog is an 8-ounce Five Star hot dog "topped with Texas Jack chili, shredded pepper jack cheese and Sriracha sauce."
"Johnny Football mania is in full swing at Canal Park, and we are excited to have a food and beverage offering dedicated to the new Browns quarterback," RubberDucks GM Jim Pfander said. " It's an exciting time for the Akron and Cleveland area."
I dig this offering because it's a true homage to Manziel (rather than a random publicity stunt): it's offered up by a team in the state Manziel's playing in, it features a throwback to his college days in Texas and it's SPICY like Manziel's style.
The only way it could be better is if the dog was made of champagne-soaked, inflatable swan meat.
