The NFL Rookie Symposium went down last weekend in Aurora, Ohio. Like most symposiums -- especially the ones attended by 20-something year olds -- it doesn't get a ton of attention. But it's a tremendously worthwhile effort for the impact it can have on the young men entering the world of professional football.

Robert Klemko of TheMMQB.com did a great job chronicling it in a two-part series (both worth your time to read) and noted a specific piece of important advice from a pair of Hall of Fame players, Warren Sapp and Cris Carter, during their Q&A portion of the weekend.

Following what sounds like a pretty intense speech -- Klemko described Carter as "animated, pacing and shouting with the cadence of a Southern Baptist preacher" -- the following exchange occurred:

Carter: “There's no hiding crimes anymore. Everybody is TMZ.”

Sapp: “Even the ones in your crew.”

Carter: “Say that again, bro.”

Sapp: “Even the ones in your crew.”

It's a terrifyingly true statement.

Look no further than current rookie, Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel. He's constantly ending up on social media. Part of that is the way Johnny lives his life. The other part of that is the way the world operates now.

Everyone has a phone, everyone has a camera, everyone has Instagram and everyone has a way of getting their message out there quickly if they want.

Even, as Sapp and Carter point out, the people you consider friends.
