Johnny Manziel is apparently really low-key so far at Browns camp

We can't stop talking about Johnny Manziel, and apparently, nobody else can either.

That's why if you looked closely on Wednesday morning -- or if you happened to be around the Internet at all -- you could have seen one website document Manziel's trip to a bar this week in which the Browns rookie quarterback might have had a beer or two (I didn't link to the story because, well, it's just kind of silly).

But while making an appearance on the John Feinstein Show, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora discussed Manziel's presence inside the Browns facility. Basically, La Canfora says, he's quiet and shy. In fact, he's oftentimes eating by himself in the cafeteria.

"So for someone who has such an outsized, life-is-a-party identity when it comes to Las Vegas, (Manziel is) very much a rookie within these walls," La Canfora said. "I won't say (he's) isolated, but (he) certainly hasn't really developed a group of guys around him. Brian Hoyer will be eating lunch with the whole offensive line. It's not that people aren't including Johnny, but I think there's a little bit of a feeling-out process that's going on. So he conducts himself very differently within this facility than he does outside it."

No word on what Andre Reed thinks of this development.

So, why is Manziel acting so passive behind the scenes when he's been so up front about his partying?

"I just think he's trying to find common ground with different guys," La Canfora said. "His college experience was very different than a lot of the young guys here. I think some guys are like, 'I'm just going to leave him alone. He's Johnny Football.' And I think he's kind of like, 'I'm not trying to be the man. I have to earn being the man. So I'm not just going to go sit down at the cool kids' table and start talking like I own the place.' I think a lot of it is natural, and certainly some of it is heightened by how much [of the] spotlight is on him, particularly on weekends."

As for when Manziel might take over the starting position from Brian Hoyer -- if Hoyer, in fact, wins the job (and so far Hoyer seems to be outplaying Manziel) -- La Canfora thinks it might come before the mid-point of the season.

"Johnny will get on the field," La Canfora said. "I don't think he's starting Week 1, but they'll find packages for him early on. Maybe by Week 8 or Week 6 he's starting. I think it's a lot for the team to manage, as well."
