Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick has been suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the league's drug policy, owner Jerry Jones told reporters late Monday night.

According to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, "Just talked to Orlando Scandrick about his 4 game suspension. Says he took something in Mexico while on vacation and it [tested] positive on banned list for performance enhancer."

ESPN reported Tuesday that the banned substance was MDMA.

Scandrick, who reportedly lost his appeal, also told Glazer he takes full responsibility.

Scandrick, who took over the starting spot from disappointing 2012 first-round pick Morris Claiborne last season, was projected in 2014 to start opposite Brandon Carr. Now, it seems Claiborne could move back into the starting lineup.
