The Browns signed Nate Burleson in April to shore up a potentially suspect wide receivers corps. On Saturday, and less than a week after Josh Gordon was suspended for the year, the team released Burleson, confirms CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot first reported the news.

Burelson, originally a Vikings 2003 third-round pick, played in just one preseason game, logging one catch for 27 yards. During his 11-year career, the 33-year-old had 457 receptions for 5,630 yards and 39 touchdowns.

While this could be the last stop of Burleson's NFL career, he's had a good run; now he can enjoy the fruits of his labor. Specifically: A year's worth of free pizza (courtesy of that pizza-related car accident last October).

The Browns, meanwhile, will head into the regular season with Andrew Hawkins, Austin Miles and Travis Benjamin as their top wideouts. Godspeed, Brian Hoyer. Godspeed.
