MATCHUP SCORE ANALYSIS
Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014

Green Bay
Packers
31
This should be Teddy Bridgewater's first road start -- if he's healthy enough. That won't be easy. The Packers seemed to right things on offense last week vs, the Bears. That carries over. It will be tough to keep up with Aaron Rodgers. Packers big.
Result: Green Bay Packers 42, Minnesota Vikings 10
Minnesota
Vikings
17

Carolina
Panthers
35
Remember when a game with these two would be a defensive battle? Not anymore. Both defense have major problems. I think Jay Cutler and Cam Newton light it up. Shootout time, but Newton finds a way to win it late.
Result: Carolina Panthers 31, Chicago Bears 24
Chicago
Bears
30

Dallas
Cowboys
30
This battle for Texas surprisingly features two 3-1 teams. The Cowboys are rolling on offense, and the defense played better against the Saints. Houston has overachieved, but this is a big step up for them on the road. I think that shows. Dallas rolls.
Result: Dallas Cowboys 20, Houston Texans 17
Houston
Texans
16

Detroit
Lions
31
The Bills are playing consecutive road games, and this one will be with Kyle Orton at quarterback. He can't be any worse than EJ Manuel was in four starts. But this is a big challenge going against the Lions' top-rated defense on the road. Good luck. Lions big.
Result: Detroit Lions 14, Buffalo Bills 17
Buffalo
Bills
13

Indianapolis
Colts
31
This one features two 3-1 teams clicking on offense. Andrew Luck is having an MVP start, but the Ravens are much improved on offense. Look for Indianapolis to play up-tempo to keep the Ravens off-balance. Luck finds a way to win it late.
Result: Indianapolis Colts 20, Baltimore Ravens 13
Baltimore
Ravens
30

Pittsburgh
Steelers
34
Is this a chance for the Jaguars' first victory? It is, but it won't happen. The Steelers are dinged on defense, but the Jags have big problems on that side of the ball. I look for Ben Roethlisberger and Blake Bortles to have good days. But Roethlisberger gets the best of it.
Result: Pittsburgh Steelers 17, Jacksonville Jaguars 9
Jacksonville
Jaguars
24

New Orleans
Saints
27
Who are the Saints? They don't look right on either side of the ball. Tampa Bay is playing a second consecutive road game. That's tough, and even tougher in the Superdome. But the Bucs will keep it closer than expected. Drew Brees isn't rolling yet, but will be good enough here.
Result: New Orleans Saints 37, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31
Tampa Bay
Buccaneers
24

New York
Giants
37
This looks like points will be plentiful. The Falcons are really bad on defense, but that offense can score on anybody. The Giants have come alive on offense with Eli Manning. That continues. The Falcons are playing consecutive road games and the Giants will have been off for 10 days. That matters. Giants take it.
Result: NY Giants 30, Atlanta Falcons 20
Atlanta
Falcons
31

Philadelphia
Eagles
28
The Eagles are coming off their first loss, the Rams are coming off their bye. St. Louis' defense, which was expected to be dominant, has to get it going. It will be tough here. The Eagles are tough on offense at home and the Rams won't keep up. Philadelphia takes it.
Result: Philadelphia Eagles 34, St. Louis Rams 28
St. Louis
Rams
17

Tennessee
Titans
24
The Titans have lost three straight. They were horrible last week at Indianapolis, but they should have Jake Locker back. The Browns are coming off their bye, and the concern has been poor play on defense. I think that shows up again as the Titans win it.
Result: Tennessee Titans 28, Cleveland Browns 29
Cleveland
Browns
17

Denver
Broncos
27
Both are coming off their byes, so that's a tradeoff. This is a chance for Arizona to show it's more than just a playoff contender. The Cardinals' defense has been really good. But this is a huge step up in class, especially on the road. Peyton Manning wins those battles vs. a good Arizona defense.
Result: Denver Broncos 41, Arizona Cardinals 20
Arizona
Cardinals
17

San Diego
Chargers
28
The Jets lick their wounds by taking a long road trip to face a good team. That's always a challenge. The Jets have big issues in coverage, and Philip Rivers is lighting it up. He continues that here with another strong outing.
Result: San Diego Chargers 31, NY Jets 0
New York
Jets
10

San Francisco
49ers
28
The Chiefs are riding high after blowing out New England on Monday night. Kansas City is playing good football. But this is a tough test on the road for Alex Smith against his former team. San Francisco came alive on defense last week vs. the Eagles, and it stays that way.
Result: San Francisco 49ers 22, Kansas City Chiefs 17
Kansas City
Chiefs
20

Cincinnati
Bengals
23
I'm picking the Bengals, but what happened to the Patriots on Monday night vs. the Chiefs makes me a little leery to do so. I think New England bounces back and plays well. Tom Brady is far from done. He just needs the people around him to play better. It's tight, but the Bengals are a better team now and find a way.
Result: Cincinnati Bengals 17, New England Patriots 43
New England
Patriots

Seattle
Seahawks
24
The Seahawks are coming off their bye, but that's offset some by the Redskins getting 10 days between games. This is a long trip for the Seahawks, but they operate on a very different talent level than the Redskins. Kirk Cousins won't have success against a fierce Seattle defense.
Result: Seattle Seahawks 27, Washington Redskins 17
Washington
Redskins
13
