MATCHUP SCORE ANALYSIS
Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014

Indianapolis
Colts
27
The Colts are all about Andrew Luck, who has 14 touchdown passes. That will be the case again. Luck will make plays down the field against a Houston defense that has improved, but is ranked 22nd against the pass. The Texans will counter with a lot of Arian Foster. Luck gets the edge and the victory.
Result: Indianapolis Colts 33, Houston Texans 28

New England
Patriots
28
This is a game for first place in the AFC East. The Patriots got out of their funk against the Bengals, while the Bills won a tough game at Detroit last week. Kyle Orton did some good things, but he also threw a pick-six. The Patriots will find a way to win a tight one.
Result: New England Patriots 37, Buffalo Bills 22
Buffalo
Bills
20

Cincinnati
Bengals
27
The Bengals lost for the first time last Sunday night and didn't play well. That will change here. Cincinnati is still a talented team; a defense that struggled last week will rebound. Bengals bounce back.
Result: Cincinnati Bengals 37, Carolina Panthers 37
Carolina
Panthers
17

Pittsburgh
Steelers
21
The Browns are at .500 after a comeback last week against the Titans. The Steelers are 3-2, but haven't looked that good getting there. The Steelers beat the Browns in the opener, and the way the Browns are playing on defense, I think they do it again.
Result: Pittsburgh Steelers 10, Cleveland Browns 31
Cleveland
Browns
14

Green Bay
Packers
28
The Dolphins are coming off a bye, but the Packers are coming off a Thursday night game, so they are also rested. The Packers rolled on offense the past two weeks, and I think that continues. Aaron Rodgers has a big game.
Result: Green Bay Packers 27, Miami Dolphins 24
Miami
Dolphins

Minnesota
Vikings
21
The Lions are banged up and will likely be without Calvin Johnson and others. That's a problem. It looks like Teddy Bridgewater will be back for the Vikings. This will be his second start, and it's against a good defense, but I think he will find a way.
Result: Minnesota Vikings 3, Detroit Lions 17
Detroit
Lions
20

Denver
Broncos
27
The Broncos looked back to their explosive ways last week against the Cardinals. The Jets can't do anything on offense. They lack playmakers, no matter who plays quarterback. Peyton Manning rolls up big numbers.
Result: Denver Broncos 31, NY Jets 17
New York
Jets
10

Tampa Bay
Buccaneers
20
The Ravens are playing back-to-back road games outside the division. That's always tough. Tampa Bay is home for the first time in three weeks. The Bucs are also playing better and that continues. Upset special.
Result: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17, Baltimore Ravens 48
Baltimore
Ravens
17

Jacksonville
Jaguars
20
The Jaguars are winless, while the Titans are coming off a horrible loss last week at home to the Browns. Jacksonville was much better on defense last week, but they've struggled on the road. Even so, look for a low-scoring game that Jacksonville will win late.
Result: Jacksonville Jaguars 14, Tennessee Titans 16
Tennessee
Titans
16

San Diego
Chargers
28
The Chargers might be the best team in the league right now. They are rolling on offense with Philip Rivers and the defense is tops in scoring. The Raiders will be playing their first game with Tony Sparano as interim coach. It won't matter.
Result: San Diego Chargers 31, Oakland Raiders 28
Oakland
Raiders
13

Atlanta
Falcons
34
This has the makings of a wild shootout. The Bears are playing back-to-back road games against teams that are much better at home than on the road. That shows up. Matt Ryan outduels Jay Cutler.
Result: Atlanta Falcons 13, Chicago Bears 27
Chicago
Bears
28

Arizona
Cardinals
30
The Redskins face a tough trip on a short week. That's always a problem. The Cardinals expect to have either Carson Palmer or Drew Stanton at quarterback. They are banged up, though. Even so, I see Arizona taking it as they rattle Kirk Cousins.
Result: Arizona Cardinals 30, Washington Redskins 20
Washington
Redskins
20

Seattle
Seahawks
27
Russell Wilson did some impressive things against the Redskins on Monday night, and Seattle is even better at home. The Cowboys have a top offense, but the problem here will be on defense. Seattle should be able to move the football. Can Dallas keep up? Not in this one.
Result: Seattle Seahawks 23, Dallas Cowboys 30
Dallas
Cowboys
17

New York
Giants
27
The Giants have fixed things the past three weeks, but this is a big challenge. The Eagles are scoring points with their defense and special teams, but the offense isn't clicking. I think the Giants are the better team right now, and they go in and pull off the upset.
Result: NY Giants 0, Philadelphia Eagles 27
Philadelphia
Eagles

San Francisco
49ers
20
The 49ers are back on track with their running game. The Rams have had big problems stopping the run, ranking 29th in the league. Frank Gore will have success running it. I can't see the Rams offense with Austin Davis being able to move it much on the 49ers.
Result: San Francisco 49ers 31, St. Louis Rams 17
St. Louis
