MATCHUP SCORE ANALYSIS
Thursday, Sep. 12, 2013

New England
Patriots
34
Geno Smith had a solid first game for the Jets in beating the Bucs. But I think he will run into big problems here in his first road game. The Jets defense was solid against the Bucs, but this is Tom Brady. He took a while to get going last week, but I see him getting it going here. Patriots big.
Result: New England Patriots 13, NY Jets 10
New York
Jets

Atlanta
Falcons
27
The Rams had a nice home victory against the Cardinals, but Carson Palmer lit them up through the air. I think Matt Ryan will do the same here. Steven Jackson gets a chance against his former team to show he can still get it done. The Falcons get their first victory.
Result: Atlanta Falcons 31, St. Louis Rams 24
St. Louis
Rams
17

Baltimore
Ravens
21
The Ravens will have had a long time to stew over their opening-night loss to the Broncos. They looked battered after that one, but I see them bouncing back here. The Browns struggled on offense against Miami, and that continues here. Baltimore gets back on track.
Result: Baltimore Ravens 14, Cleveland Browns 6
Cleveland
Browns
13

Carolina
Panthers
29
The Bills had a nice showing in their opener against the Pats. The Panthers did nothing on offense against the Seahawks, but the Bills don't have that caliber of defense. I think Cam Newton bounces back with a big game.
Result: Carolina Panthers 23, Buffalo Bills 24
Buffalo
Bills
17

Chicago
Bears
24
The Vikings are playing consecutive road games to open after losing to the Lions last week. Chicago had a nice Week 1 comeback against the Bengals. The Bears will have to contain Adrian Peterson, and I think they will. Jay Cutler has two touchdown passes to win it.
Result: Chicago Bears 31, Minnesota Vikings 30
Minnesota
Vikings

Green Bay
Packers
31
The Redskins had a rough start Monday night and gave up big yards to the Eagles in a loss. Now they have a short week to get ready for a road game against Aaron Rodgers. Good luck with that. The Packers bounce back from their opening-day loss with an impressive victory.
Result: Green Bay Packers 38, Washington Redskins 20
Washington
Redskins

Houston
Texans
24
The Texans had big problems on defense early against Philip Rivers. Jake Locker is no Rivers. That means the focus will be Chris Johnson. The Titans' defense had a nice day against the Steelers. Can they do it again? Short week for Texans helps. Houston wins a tight one.
Result: Houston Texans 30, Tennessee Titans 24
Tennessee
Titans

Indianapolis
Colts
20
The Dolphins are playing consecutive road games to open the season. That's tough. It's even tougher when play a quality team like the Colts. Indianapolis didn't look good in beating the Raiders, and the Miami defense is tough. But I look for the Colts and Andrew Luck to pull out a close one.
Result: Indianapolis Colts 20, Miami Dolphins 24
Miami
Dolphins

Dallas
Cowboys
23
Both won in Week 1, making this one of the week's best games. The Chiefs destroyed the Jaguars, but this is a big step up. The Cowboys did some good things in beating the Giants. I think Dallas gets Dez Bryant some big plays against the Chiefs man coverage. Cowboys get a tough road victory.
Result: Dallas Cowboys 16, Kansas City Chiefs 17
Kansas City
Chiefs
20

Philadelphia
Eagles
33
The Chargers looked good early against the Texans, then folded in the second half. The defense was gassed against the Texans. Can you imagine what Chip Kelly's offense will do to them? Look for the Eagles to roll here. Mike Vick has a big day.
Result: Philadelphia Eagles 30, San Diego Chargers 33
San Diego
Chargers

Arizona
Cardinals
33
Both these teams showed well on offense last week, so look for a lot of points. Carson Palmer should have some chances down the field against a so-so Lions secondary. This is a shootout. Cardinals take it.
Result: Arizona Cardinals 25, Detroit Lions 21
Detroit
Lions
30

Tampa Bay
Buccaneers
27
The Bucs lost a tough on the road to the Jets last week. The offense struggled. That can't be the case here against the Saints, who can be explosive on offense. Something tells me the Bucs will look like a different team in this one. They pull off the upset with Josh Freeman coming up big.
Result: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14, New Orleans Saints 16
New Orleans
Saints
20

New York
Giants
31
The Broncos looked like the best team in Week 1, while the Giants turned it over six times. But I think the Manning Bowl will turn into Eli Manning's game. He outplays Peyton Manning. Giants take it in an upset.
Result: NY Giants 23, Denver Broncos 41
Denver
Broncos
29

Oakland
Raiders
20
Chad Henne starts for a Jaguars team that looked terrible against Kansas City. The Raiders did some good things in their opener against the Colts. Terrelle Pryor now makes his first home start for the Raiders. His legs will cause problems for the Jaguars and their lack of pass rush.
Result: Oakland Raiders 19, Jacksonville Jaguars 9
Jacksonville
Jaguars

Seattle
Seahawks
24
This is the game of the week. The highlight is the Seattle defense against Colin Kapernick's passing. The last time the 49ers played in Seattle, the Seahawks did a nice job on Kaepernick. I don't think they do it here, but they limit him enough to win it. Russell Wilson beats his rival.
Result: Seattle Seahawks 29, San Francisco 49ers 3
San Francisco
49ers

Cincinnati
Bengals
21
The Bengals blew a game last week against the Bears when they turned it over late with a chance to go up 11. Now they have their home opener against a division rival. Pittsburgh looked terrible on offense last week, and now must face a good Cincinnati defense. Bengals get their first victory.
Result: Cincinnati Bengals 20, Pittsburgh Steelers 10
Pittsburgh
Steelers
