MATCHUP SCORE ANALYSIS
Thursday, Sep. 10, 2015

Pittsburgh
Steelers
23
I know Tom Brady will play in this game, and LeíVeon Bell and Martavis Bryant will not. But I think the Steelers will be ready for the Patriots here. I am bucking some trends since the Pats have won seven of 10 meetings since 2001, and all but one in New England. But something tells me Ben Roethlisberger will have a big night throwing it against a new-look Patriots secondary.
Result: Pittsburgh Steelers 21, New England Patriots 28

Indianapolis
Colts
23
The Bills are built to be a power team, while the Colts are the opposite. This will be Tyrod Taylorís first NFL start, which will be an edge for the Colts. They also have Andrew Luck. I think he will be able to make enough plays against the tough Buffalo defense to pull out a tough road victory.
Result: Indianapolis Colts 14, Buffalo Bills 27
Buffalo
Bills

Green Bay
Packers
31
The Bears havenít won against the Packers at Solider Field in the past five years, and this will be no different. The Bears defense will be improved this season, but even without Jordy Nelson the Packers will be able to have success here. The Bears wonít keep up. Packers have won eight of nine in the series. Make it nine of 10.
Result: Green Bay Packers 31, Chicago Bears 23
Chicago
Bears
20

Houston
Texans
23
They last played in 2013, with the Chiefs winning at Arrowhead. The last time they played in Houston, the Texans won. That will be the case here. It will be a close one, but the Texans' defense will come up with a big play late to help win it. J.J. Watt will have field day against the Chiefs tackles.
Result: Houston Texans 20, Kansas City Chiefs 27
Kansas City
Chiefs

Jacksonville
Jaguars
20
The Panthers come limping into this one, while the Jaguars have some injury issues as well. Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles has impressed this summer and with a Panthers defense dinged by injuries, I think that will carry over. The Jaguars get a home victory to open the season.
Result: Jacksonville Jaguars 9, Carolina Panthers 20
Carolina
Panthers
14

Cleveland
Browns
18
This one has all the makings of a defensive battle. The quarterback situations arenít pretty, and the defenses should be able to own the day. The Browns will win on a late field goal -- the sixth of the day.
Result: Cleveland Browns 10, NY Jets 31
New York
Jets
17

17
The Rams have won two of the last three in St. Louis against the Seahawks. Both teams have good defenses, but questionable offensive lines. That could lead to problems for both quarterbacks. In the end, I think the Rams' defense will outplay the vaunted Seattle defense. Upset.
Result: St. Louis 34, Seattle Seahawks 31
Seattle
Seahawks

Miami
Dolphins
28
The Redskins will start Kirk Cousins against that tough Miami front. The Redskins had pass-protection issues in the preseason, and that will show up against Cameron Wake, Ndamukong Suh and company. The Dolphins open with a road victory.
Result: Miami Dolphins 17, Washington Redskins 10
Washington
Redskins

Arizona
Cardinals
24
The Cardinals have Carson Palmer back, which means they have a chance to win the division. The offense should be able to have a good day here against a so-so Saints defense. Drew Brees will try and keep up, but the Cardinals will win their home opener.
Result: Arizona Cardinals 31, New Orleans Saints 19
New Orleans
Saints
20

San Diego
Chargers
20
This is a tough road test to open the season for the Lions. Philip Rivers faces a Lions defense that will miss Suh. He also wonít have the suspended Antonio Gates, but he will make enough plays outside to win against the Lions secondary.
Result: San Diego Chargers 33, Detroit Lions 28
Detroit
Lions

Denver
Broncos
26
All eyes will be on Peyton Manning in this one. After the disappointing end to the 2014 season, there are many who wonder if heís done. Heís not. The new scheme will help take some pressure off him, but that Ravens pass rush can be brutal. The Denver line will be tested here. Even so, I think Manning will find a way to pull it out in the end.
Result: Denver Broncos 19, Baltimore Ravens 13
Baltimore
Ravens

Cincinnati
Bengals
19
This is a huge year for Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton and he faces a tough challenge on the road against an improved Oakland defense. The Cincinnati defense should be much improved with Geno Atkins back to full strength. The Bengals will do enough to get a tough road victory.
Result: Cincinnati Bengals 33, Oakland Raiders 13
Oakland
Raiders

Tampa Bay
Buccaneers
27
It's a showdown between the rookie quarterbacks taken first and second overall in the draft. The Titans will start Marcus Mariota, while the Bucs have first-overall pick Jameis Winston. Both will make plays here. Both will make mistakes. In the end, it will be a late drive by Winston to win it.
Result: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14, Tennessee Titans 42
Tennessee
Titans
26

Dallas
Cowboys
37
The Cowboys have won the past four games against the Giants, and will make it five straight here. Dallas will be improved on defense, but I think Eli Manning and his offense will keep it close in this one. Tony Romo wins a shootout against a suspect Giants defense.
Result: Dallas Cowboys 27, NY Giants 26
New York
Giants

Philadelphia
Eagles
28
Sam Bradford takes over running Chip Kellyís fast-tempo offense, which can be tough to prepare for as a defense. The Falcons have a new coach in Dan Quinn, who knows a thing about defense. But he lacks playmakers on that side of the ball. Bradford and company outscore Matt Ryan and Julio Jones and gang.
Result: Philadelphia Eagles 24, Atlanta Falcons 26
Atlanta
Falcons

Minnesota
Vikings
23
The Jim Tomsula era begins for the 49ers with a Monday night game. Theyíve traditionally been pretty good on Monday night, but this is a depleted team. The Vikings will get Adrian Peterson back, and he will have success running it. Minnesota takes a road Monday nighter.
Result: Minnesota Vikings 3, San Francisco 49ers 20
San Francisco
