08/14/16DLMario EdwardsHipQUESTIONABLEEdwards (hip) will not need surgery on his sprained hip, Scott Bair of CSN California reports.

Edwards injured his hip while tackling Cardinals' running back David Johnson during Thursday's preseason contest. Edwards was given a four-to-six week timetable, but it was questionable if he needed surgery or not. Now that it's clear he just needs time and not surgery, he'll likely be able to return sooner than he otherwise would've, though his status for the regular season opener is still in question.

08/14/16TEGabe HolmesAnkleDOUBTFULThe Raiders placed Holmes (ankle) on the IR Tuesday, Jimmy Durkin of the Bay Area News Group reports.

Holmes suffered a severe high ankle sprain in Monday's practice, which has resulted in his placement on the IR. Holmes projected to be the fourth tight end on the team's depth chart this season.

08/14/16RBJalen RichardKneeQUESTIONABLERichard (knee) worked with team trainers on the side at Saturday's practice, Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Despite missing Oakland's first two preseason games, the team remains optimistic that Richard will be ready to go for the start of the regular season. Richard has been impressive in his small sample size and the Raiders are eagerly looking for someone who can give Latavius Murray a breather every once in a while.

07/11/16LBAldon SmithSuspensionSUSPENDSmith (suspension) has entered a treatment center, ESPN reports.

Smith's reason for seeking treatment is unclear, but it comes just days after a Periscope video titled "Fire up session" surfaced of an unidentified man, suspected to be him, talking about a hand-rolled cigarette shown on screen. In wake of that video, which appeared under an account previously used by Smith, the NFL has launched an investigation into whether he violated protocols required of a suspended player seeking reinstatement from a substance abuse violation. While that investigation continues, Smith's move to now enter a treatment facility hardly seems coincidental, and more details regarding his situation should surface soon.

04/27/16RBMarcel ReeceSuspensionSUSPENDReece has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing drugs, CSN Bay Area reports.

Reece, who will sit out Sunday's season finale against the Chiefs, is thus eligible to return to action after the Raiders' third game of the 2016 season. In the meantime, he can participate in all of the team's offseason and preseason practices and games.

08/22/16RBKenyan DrakeHamstringQUESTIONABLEDrake (hamstring) returned to practice as a limited participant Tuesday, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

Drake will have to battle throughout the remainder of the preseason for a spot in the team's backfield, with Arian Foster and Jay Ajayi leading the way while Isaiah Pead has made a strong case for the No. 3 spot. The Dolphins' next preseason contest is Thursday, but Drake isn't a certain candidate to make an appearance yet.

08/20/16QBMatt MooreHeadQUESTIONABLEMoore (concussion) sat out of practice Sunday, James Walker of ESPN.com reports.

Moore suffered a concussion during Friday's preseason matchup with the Cowboys and is currently going through the league's mandated protocol. He was held out of practice Sunday as expected, but still remains without a timetable for a return. Absences from concussions vary in length depending on the player, but we'll likely see his status updated again within the coming few days.

08/18/16DBXavien HowardKneePROBABLEHoward (knee) was able to take part in a few team and one on one drills Monday, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

The biggest weakness on defense for Miami is at cornerback. With a pass rush that is expected to be much improved this season they don't need their corners to be great, just ones that aren't beat immediately off the line of scrimmage. The team is hopeful that Howard can be one of those guys.

08/09/16TEMarQueis GrayKneeQUESTIONABLEThe Dolphins and Gray agreed to a contract Thursday, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

Landing the second tight-end role out of training camp, Gray earned 26 offensive snaps and 75 more on special teams over the first four games of 2015, during which he hauled in his only target. In the same game, though, he sustained a broken forearm and spent the rest of the season on injured reserve. Upon joining the Dolphins, he'll compete for one of the few TE spots behind Jordan Cameron.

08/05/16WRDeVante ParkerHamstringPROBABLEParker had two receptions for 16 yards in the Dolphins 41-14 loss to Dallas on Friday.

While the numbers aren't all that exciting it was good to see Parker on the field after battling foot injuries all offseason. Parker is expected to be the big play receiver in the Miami offense but expectations may have to be kept in check until quarterback Ryan Tannehill proves he is ready to take that next step into an elite NFL signal caller.

07/31/16DLDion JordanUndisclosedNFIJordan (knee) has been notified by the league he is eligible to begin practicing, Adam Schfter of ESPN reports.

While Jordan has been cleared to practice, he is still unable to physically do so. The 26-year-old defensive end is still rehabbing from a knee injury. He has not played since December of 2014, and will face stiff competition for playing time on an already deep D-line.
