08/30/16TEMatt LaCosseKneeQUESTIONABLELacosse (knee) was waived/injured by the Giants on Monday, Seth Walder of the New York Daily News reports.

The tight end has dealt with knee woes since the start of training camp and finally opted for surgery on Sunday. He'll likely revert to the Giants' injured reserve if he clears waivers.

08/30/16RBNikita WhitlockFootQUESTIONABLEWhitlock (foot) was waived/injured by the Giants on Monday with a mid-foot sprain, NJ.com reports.

Whitlock injured his foot in the Giants preseason clash with the Jets on Saturday. He needed to be carted off the field and was seen on crutches afterwords. However, it's unclear whether he'll require surgery at this point in time.

08/28/16LBJonathan CasillasRibsQUESTIONABLECasillas (ribs) told reporters that he has no fractures and expects to play in the season opener, Jordan Raanan of ESPN reports.

It was originally reported that Casillas was dealing with cracked ribs after Saturday's preseason game with the Jets. However, the 29-year-old insists that there are no fractures and he's not expecting to miss too much time recovering from the injury. Casillas is expected to anchor a much bolstered Giants defense in 2016.

08/28/16LBB.J. GoodsonConcussionQUESTIONABLEGoodson sustained a concussion during Saturday's preseason contest versus the Jets.

Selected by the Giants in the fourth round of the 2016, Goodson has so far been unable to rise above third-string status on the unofficial depth chart, despite combining for 11 tackles (10 solo) in the team's first two exhibitions. Due to the murkiness surrounding concussions, a timetable for a return is up in the air.

08/28/16DBLeon HallConcussionQUESTIONABLEHall suffered a concussion during Saturday's preseason contest against the Jets, Art Stapleton of The Record reports.

The Giants inked Hall to a contract in early August to bolster their depth at cornerback, but he's worked as a free safety in recent practices due to injuries befalling each player at the position. With his diagnosis known, there's no telling when Hall may be able to return to the field.

08/25/16DBEli AppleKneePROBABLEApple (knee) is expected to play in Saturday's preseason date with the Jets, Art Stapleton of USA Today Sports Network reports.

Apple returned to the practice field seven days ago and has held his own. The rookie injured his left knee during the team's first preseason affair and has been nursing it every since. With the regular season right around the corner, the Giants are eager to get Apple as much in-game experience as possible before throwing him into the gauntlet.

08/24/16WRBen EdwardsKneeQUESTIONABLEEdwards (knee) was waived-injured Wednesday after being diagnosed with a torn ACL over the weekend, Jordan Raanan of NJ Advance Media reports.

The former Richmond Spider spent most of the 2015 season on the practice squad and was active for the final two seasons of the campaign. He was carted off the field for precautionary reasons during a minicamp practice in April and he ultimately tore his ACL during rookie minicamp over the weekend. Edwards was waived in order to clear room on the 90-man roster for a tryout player.

08/23/16DBDarian ThompsonShoulderQUESTIONABLEThompson (shoulder) is on track to play in the Giants' Week 1 matchup against the Cowboys. "He will be ready...by him being young, I truly believe that he will be ready to go," said said defensive backs coach Davit Merritt on Thursday.

Although Thompson will sit out of the Giants' third preseason game this weekend, the coaching staff has little doubt that the rookie safety will be ready once the season gets underway. Thompson, a third round selection out of Boise State, suffered a bruised shoulder in the Giants' last preseason game that has him officially listed as week-to-week. Provided that Thompson can remain on track with his recovery, he could start at free safety when the Giants open their season against their division rivals.

08/20/16WRDwayne HarrisKneePROBABLEHarris (knee) left Saturday's preseason game early, The team's official site reports.

Harris left the matchup with the Bills to get some x-rays of his knee. The 28-year-old hauled in career-highs of 36 receptions, 396 yards and four touchdowns in his first season with the Giants. Although it remains to be seen exactly how long Harris will be out, a serious knee injury would be a big blow to his plans of obtaining an expanded role with the offense in 2016.

08/20/16DBMykkele ThompsonConcussionPROBABLEThompson (head) was diagnosed with a concussion after leaving Saturday's preseason game early and will have to abide by the league's concussion protocol moving forward.

The Italian native has been relentless in his pursuit of securing a roster spot. However, unfortunately for Thompson, a long history of ailments combined with the uncertainty of his concussion could all but keep him off the 53-man roster. For now, Bennett Jackson and Justin Currie are likely to fill in during his absence.

08/17/16KJosh BrownSuspensionSUSPENDWhile Brown has been suspended only one game, the the Daily News reported his ex-wife told police he had been violent with her more than 20 times.

While this report only addresses her statement to the police and does not tell his side of the story, that it came after his suspension opens a new can of worms for him and the Giants. Even though the charges were dismissed, the report is not a good look for Brown or the Giants, and you have to wonder whether they'll decide to take further action internally or even release him. They signed Brown to a two-year, $4 million in April after knowing about his arrest, but perhaps they didn't know about his wife's more detailed report to the police. Given how fungible kickers are in fantasy, and that Brown's already out one game, we'd recommend looking elsewhere at the position.

08/17/16WRVictor CruzGroinQUESTIONABLECruz (groin) played 29 snaps and had one catch on two targets against the Jets Saturday. He was open deep on one play, but Eli Manning underthrew him.

Cruz emerged unscathed from the contest and now has a chance to stick as the team's No. 2 or No. 3 option. That said, it's still unclear if he can handle daily practices and taking hits on a regular basis. But Saturday's showing was encouraging, and Cruz is still in the mix for the No. 2 or No. 3 receiver job.

08/16/16DLKerry WynnUndisclosedPROBABLEWynn was held out of practice and worked on the sideline with the training staff for undisclosed reasons, Art Stapleton of The Record reports.

Though Wynn was held out of drills, his presence on the sideline with the Giants' trainers likely means that whatever injury is keeping him out likely isn't very serious and he'll likely be back to practice in the coming days.

    (Updated 08/15/2016)
08/13/16WRGeremy DavisHamstringPROBABLEDavis (hamstring) worked on the side of practice with the Giants' training staff, Art Stapleton of The Record reports.

Davis didn't practice on Sunday after injuring his hamstring during Friday's game against the Dolphins. Though he didn't practice in full, his work on the sidelines is an encouraging sign and he shouldn't be expected to miss much, if any, more time going forward.

    (Updated 08/15/2016)
08/13/16RBWill JohnsonNeckPROBABLEJohnson (neck) will not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Jets.

Also absent is Matt LaCosse (knee), who has been battling Johnson, among others, for the No. 3 tight end role. Jerell Adams and Ryan Malleck figure to handle most of the second-team work in Saturday's game.

    (Updated 08/27/2016)
08/02/16DLDamon HarrisonKneePROBABLEHarrison (knee) was removed from the PUP list Tuesday, The Record's Art Stapleton reports.

Harrison missed the first few days of training camp due to some minor swelling in his knee. Despite signing a five-year, $46.5 million contract in the offseason, the run-stuffing nose tackle is highly unlikely to have any IDP value. He should, however, provide a much-needed boost to his new team's run defense.

    (Updated 08/02/2016)
05/23/16DBCooper TaylorGroinQUESTIONABLETaylor has underwent sports hernia surgery and will be sidelined until training camp, NJ.com reports.

Taylor was working with the Giants' first-team defense at free safety earlier this spring, but will now be sidelined after his latest surgery. Typically, sports hernia surgery requires four-to-six weeks of recovery time, and the Giants open training camp in five weeks. That puts Taylor on the fringe of being ready once camp starts, but until then, teammates Nat Berhe, Bennett Jackson and rookie third-rounder Darian Thompson figure to benefit from extra practice reps.

    (Updated 05/23/2016)
04/08/16DBBennett JacksonKneeQUESTIONABLEThe Giants placed offensive lineman Will Beatty (pectoral) on the PUP list Tuesday, which means he will miss at the least the first six weeks of the 2015 season.
04/08/16LBDevon KennardHamstringPROBABLEKennard (hamstring) was placed on IR to make roster room for Odell Beckham (suspension.)

Kennard should return as the team's strong side linebacker in 2016.

08/29/16DBMajor WrightIllnessPROBABLEWright was released by the Bucs on Sunday, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The veteran safety lost out on a roster spot to rookie Ryan Smith after having totaled 76 tackles over two seasons in Tampa. Wright was overpaid relative to where he figured in on the roster, with a $1.75 million salary on the books for 2016 before his release. A Lovie Smith import from the former Bucs' head coach's days in Chicago, Wright is likely to find interest from the slew of teams looking for some veteran safety help.

    (Updated 08/28/2016)
08/27/16WRDonteea DyeHamstringQUESTIONABLEDye (hamstring) will be waived/injured by the Buccaneers, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The hamstring injury that Dye suffered Friday will keep him off the field for at least four weeks, leaving the Buccaneers with no choice but to waive the 23-year-old since he was already on the borderline to make the 53-man roster to begin with.

    (Updated 08/29/2016)
08/25/16LBDevante BondHamstringQUESTIONABLEBond (hamstring) will not play Friday against the Browns.

The Buccaneers will be down a pair of strongside linebackers for their preseason clash with the Browns on Friday as Bond joins veteran Darryl Smith (undisclosed) on the inactive list. Second-year man Josh Keyes figures to see plenty of action in place of those two injured linebackers.

    (Updated 08/26/2016)
08/22/16WREvan SpencerKneeQUESTIONABLESpencer (knee) was held out of Wednesday's joint practice with the Browns, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The second-year receiver remained a spectator for the third consecutive practice and is losing valuable opportunities to make his case for a spot on the latter half of the Bucs' wide receiver depth chart. Spencer has two receptions for 27 yards over the first two weeks of preseason, with his injury having been sustained in last Saturday's tilt against the Jaguars. His status for Friday's matchup versus the Browns looks to be highly in question at this point in time.

    (Updated 08/25/2016)
08/20/16LBDaryl SmithUndisclosedPROBABLESmith (undisclosed) will not play Friday against the Browns.

The veteran linebacker will miss his second consecutive preseason game Friday as he recovers from an undisclosed ailment. Both Smith and Devante Bond (hamstring) are sitting out Friday, so Josh Keyes figures to see plenty of snaps at strongside backer against Cleveland.
