Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, who had been out with a bruised foot, returned to practice Monday, reports ESPN.com. Charles hasn't played since the preseason opener and won't see the field again until the Sept. 7 regular-season opener against the Titans.
Lions running back Montell Owens left Friday's preseason game against the Jaguars in the opening quarter with a an apparent head injury, the team announced. Owens was taken back to the locker and was evaluated for a head injury. The team has not revealed the extent of the injury, though he was unable to return.
Lions rookie linebacker Kyle Van Noy, who underwent sports hernia surgery last week, is a candidate for short-term injured reserve, reports MLive.com. That designation would sideline him for at least eight games.
