The injuries require surgery. He hopes to be ready in time for Week 1. "I am going to set my mind to being ready for the first game of the regular season," said Hynoski. The defensive back tore an ACL for the third time in his playing career last summer; he hasn't played in an NFL game since 2010. Speculation is that the team will move him to safety. "My knee feels great," Thomas said per the official team website. "It was a little struggle at first. It was a little inconsistent with the swelling. But for the last month-and-a half I haven't dealt with any swelling at all. It's progressed the last two weeks since I started running. The doctors are really happy with the way I'm progressing. They had to increase my workload because it wasn't enough." (Updated 02/11/2013)

05/23/13WRMichael CrabtreeAchilles 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh indicated that Michael Crabtree's torn right Achilles will not cost him the entire season. With surgery already done, it is believed Crabtree will return within six months. Linebacker Patrick Willis said Crabtree went down after making a "simple, normal cut" after going in motion and before starting his route during 7 on 7 drills. "Crab is one of those tough guys. He can get hit hard, and he'll bounce right back up," Willis told the San Jose Mercury News. "Yesterday he stayed down a little longer than normal. You say a little prayer and hope it wasn't as bad as it looked. Unfortunately it is." (Updated 05/23/2013)

Coach Jim Harbaugh said the right knee "looks good structurally" but warned against a quick return. 02/05/13DLJustin SmithTriceps The man known as “Cowboy” wasn't going to miss the Super Bowl. But maybe Justin Smith should have sat out. Limited by a partially torn left triceps, the 49ers' defensive end struggled. Smith finished with three tackles -- with no quarterback hurries, hits or sacks. Now comes word, via Comcast Sports Net, that the 33-year-old Smith will undergo surgery this week and need three months of rehab. The four-time Pro Bowler suffered the injury Dec. 16 against New England and missed the rest of the regular season. He returned for the playoffs wearing a brace on his left arm.
