Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieuwill not play Thursday night against San Diego, the team's final preseason game, per the team's official website. Mathieu is working his way back from two torn knee ligaments which he suffered in December. His status remains uncertain for Week 1 against the Chargers.

Falcons running back Steven Jackson, who had been out since the start of camp with a hamstring injury, returned to practice Monday, reports the team's website. Jackson had been working on the side doing rehab and conditioning.
The Falcons announced Thursday linebacker Marquis Spruill will miss the entire 2014 season after suffering a torn ACL in practice Wednesday. Spruill was drafted in the fifth round (168th overall) out of Syracuse.
