05/18/16RBJamaal CharlesKneeQUESTIONABLECoach Andy Reid confirmed that Charles (knee) will participate in the Chiefs' upcoming OTAs in a limited capacity.

It's not surprising that the Chiefs plan to limit Charles in OTAs, given that he is bouncing back from a torn right ACL that he sustained back in in Week 5 of last season. Still, that he will be working in any capacity is a great sign with regard to his chances of amping things up in training camp. Assuming no setbacks as Charles recovers, the 29-year-old -- who tore the ACL in his left knee in September of 2011 -- remains clearly atop Kansas City's RB depth chart as the 2016 season approaches. That said, the team made a point to re-sign the backs that filled in for him so capably last season -- namely Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware -- plus former No. 2 back Knile Davis remains on the team's roster. When evaluating Charles from a fantasy perspective, it's worth noting how well he returned from his first ACL injury, but with the big picture in mind, we wouldn't be surprised to see West and Ware see their share of touches this coming season in order to help keep Charles fresh.

04/27/16DBPhillip GainesKneePROBABLEChiefs CB Phillip Gaines suffered a sprained knee Monday, Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports.
04/27/16LBJustin HoustonKneeQUESTIONABLEHouston (knee) will play in the 2016-17 season according to GM John Dorsey, Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports.

Houston went through ACL surgery back in February and was given a recovery timetable ranging from 6-12 months. The linebacker did not tear his ACL, but instead it was revealed that his ACL was not function properly. The 27-year-old missed the final five games of the regular season and saw limited action during the playoffs. Dorsey did not confirm a timetable for Houston's return or if he would be ready in time for the regular-season opener, but more information will arise as the Chiefs begin training camp this summer.

04/27/16DLArmonty BryantSuspensionSUSPENDBryant (suspension) will participate in the Browns' offseason program despite being suspended for the first four games of the upcoming season, Cleveland.com reports.

Bryant is not only suspended for the first quarter of this season for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances, but he was also indicted in February on felony drug charges. Despite those troubling off-field issues, Bryant will be with the Browns when their offseason program begins next month, even though his status with the team beyond then remains a bit more uncertain.

04/30/15WRJosh GordonSuspensionSUSPENDThe NFL has denied Gordon's request for reinstatement from his one-year suspension for repeated violations of the league's Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Gordon's next opportunity to apply for reinstatement will arrive on Aug. 1, according Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

On Monday, it was widely reported that Gordon had failed a drug test in March. Both the A and B samples were revealed to have "traces of marijuana and dilute," and despite the former falling short of the threshold required for a positive test, his presence in Stage 3 of the drug program sealed his fate. Once Aug. 1 rolls around, Gordon will have the chance to reapply, though commissioner Roger Goodell is notorious for taking longer than the 60-day mandate for a response recommended under the current CBA. As a result, Gordon is in danger of missing his second season in a row.
