07/30/16WRCordarrelle PattersonShoulderPROBABLEPatterson had two receptions for 17 yards in Thursday's preseason win over Seattle. He missed Minnesota's first preseason game with a shoulder injury.

Patterson got time with the first-team offense and got to passes in the flat where he was able to use his speed to miss tackles. It was an encouraging sign that he could have a few plays a game designed for him on offense. However, his playing time is likely to be minimal on offense this season as he'll likely see almost all his action as a kick returner.

07/29/16QBTaylor HeinickeFootNFIHeinicke (ankle) has shed the walking boot he wore to protect his foot from further injury, Scout.com reports.

Heinicke declined to talk about his injury after practice, reportedly saying it was time to go lift weights. If those were indeed his plans, his foot may be further along than anticipated. However, Shaun Hill has done nothing to relinquish his role as the backup to starter Teddy Bridgewater, and the Vikings project to carry only two quarterbacks on their active roster entering the regular season. Ultimately, Heinicke appears destined for either the practice squad or injured reserve list in 2016.

08/18/16WRJordy NelsonKneePROBABLENelson (knee) is inactive for Friday's preseason matchup with the 49ers.

Nelson resumed practicing earlier this week, but he is not ready for game action just yet. With just one preseason game remaining, it's looking likely that Nelson will not play at all during the exhibition season. Both he and the Packers have indicated Nelson will be ready to go by Week 1, but his snaps could be limited a bit early on as he gets himself back into game shape.

08/15/16WRJeff JanisHandQUESTIONABLEJanis (hand) had surgery on his fractured hand and will be out for at least 4-6 weeks, Rob Demovsky of ESPN reports.

Janis fractured his hand during Friday's preseason opener against the Browns and was originally considered week-to-week. Now that he's been ruled out for at least a month, it'll be tough for him to survive the final roster cuts heading into the regular season. Along with Jared Abbrederis and Trevor Davis, Janis was competing for the final spot or two on the receiver depth chart in Green Bay, and his injury could wind up being the deciding factor.

08/15/16TEAndrew QuarlessSuspensionSUSPENDQuarless (suspension) signed a deal with the Lions on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

With tight ends Eric Ebron and Brandon Pettigrew both recovering from injuries, the Lions are facing serious depth issues at tight end for this coming season. And while Quarless will still be suspended for the first two games of the regular season, he had a solid stint with the Packers and would be a formidable option for the team should neither Ebron nor Pettigrew be ready by Week 3. He is eligible to start practicing with the team immediately.
