Thompson (foot) is continuing his rehab during the Giants' bye week, Tom Rock of Newsday.com reports. "I'll be around here to continue with my treatment and rehab and stuff," the safety said on Tuesday.
Thompson hasn't taken the field since Week 2 but is nearing a comeback after going through running drills this week. Look for more updates on his status to come next week, as the Giants prepare for their Week 9's divisional tilt with the Eagles.
Hamilton (shoulder) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's contest against the Steelers.
Hamilton was a limited participant in practice all week with a shoulder injury suffered in Week 6, and apparently isn't recovering well enough to suit up against the Steelers. With Hamilton and defensive tackle Vince Valentine out Sunday, the Patriots will be short-handed along their defensive line.
Williams has missed several days of practice with an undisclosed injury.
Clearly behind Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett on the Patriots' tight end depth chart, Williams is competing for depth slotting at the position along with Clay Harbor, A.J. Derby, Steven Scheu and Bear Pascoe.
Williams tore his left ACL during Wednesday's practice and he'll likely be placed on Injured Reserve, Jim McBride of the Boston Globe reports.
As expected, Williams' injury was a serious one as he was seen on crutches Thursday awaiting the unfortunate results. This ensures Clay Harbor's spot as the No. 3 option at tight end behind Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett heading into the 2016 season, as Williams enters a long road to recovery.
