Though he was the consensus No. 1 overall pick in Fantasy coming into the season, an early injury combined with the stellar play of DeMarco Murray, Matt Forte and Arian Foster has made Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles a bit of an afterthought as far as stud running backs go.
Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith, who sprained his throwing shoulder Sunday, is scheduled to be a full practice participant Wednesday, coach Andy Reid told the Kansas City Star. Smith is on track to play without limitations Week 9 against the Jets.
The Jaguars announced Monday cornerback Will Blackmon will miss an extended period of time with a broken index finger. Blackmon, who has started three times this season, has 30 tackles (23 solo) and one sack in eight games.
Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart was among the notable players listed on the final injury report for Week 8 at home against Miami. Gerhart was listed as probable after missing two straight games with a foot injury. Craig Loston (hamstring) and Luke Bowanko were also labeled probable.
Jaguars outside linebacker Geno Hayes, who underwent offseason knee surgery, was off from practice Saturday. He will work only every other day in camp, per The Associated Press, as the team does not want to push him.
Jaguars cornerback Aaron Colvin is eligible to return to practice this week, according to ESPN. However, he likely won't start until Week 8 against Miami, the team announced. Colvin was placed on the non-football injury list earlier in the year as he was rehabbing from a torn ACL.
