03/14/16WRMartavis BryantSuspensionSUSPENDBryant was never under consideration of being cut by the Steelers despite his recently imposed year-long suspension, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

Bryant's multiple violations of the league's substance abuse policy triggered a minimum one-year suspension from the league, but the Steelers never considered releasing him, according to general manager Kevin Colbert. Instead, Pittsburgh will hope Bryant makes the necessary changes to his life to get reinstated next year, when he would have two years remaining on his contract with the team. With Bryant suspended, Steelers receivers Markus Wheaton and, more specifically, Sammie Coates, will be looked upon to take advantage of their increased opportunities this season.

07/29/16RBMatt ForteHamstringPROBABLEJets offensive coordinator Chan Gailey recently suggested he will adjust his system as necessary to suit Forte's strengths, ESPN.com reports.

Asked how Forte will fit in his scheme, Gailey simply replied, "That's not the question. The question is, how do we adjust the system to fit Matt Forte?" Fortunately for all parties, Forte is one of the better pass-catching backs in NFL history, which should make him a natural fit in Gailey's spread attack. Bilal Powell will likely have a role and Khiry Robinson could also be in the mix, but the Jets seemingly intend for Forte to join Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker as centerpieces of the offense. The team has an unimpressive group of tight ends, along with shaky depth behind its top duo at wideout.

07/11/16TEJace AmaroShoulderPROBABLEAmaro (shoulder) could be used as an H-back or fullback this season, though he believes he should be used as a pass-catching tight end, ESPN.com reports.

Amaro missed all of last season due to a torn labrum, and with the current coaching staff unfamiliar with him after they took over last season, it's unclear what kind of role he will be given. With Jeff Cumberland gone, the Jets will have Amaro compete with Kellen Davis and Zach Sudfeld, which is hardly considerable competition for a player who was a significant part of the passing game in college at Texas Tech.

07/11/16TEKellen DavisThumbPROBABLEDavis will miss the remainder of OTAs after undergoing surgery on a torn ligament in his right thumb, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports

According to head coach Todd Bowles, Davis will be ready for the beginning of training camp in late July. The veteran tight end only had three receptions last season but could see an expanded role in 2016 after the Jets cut Jeff Cumberland earlier in the offseason.

07/11/16KNick FolkQuadricepsPROBABLEFolk (quadriceps) has resumed kicking, Seth Walder of the New York Daily News reports.

Folk sustained a Grade 1 quadriceps strain during pregame warmups in Week 9, and his fate for the season was sealed just two days later when he landed on injured reserve. In a seven-game sample prior to the injury, his success rate on field goals (13-for-16, or 81.3 percent) was in line with his career mark of 80.6 percent. Of note, though, was a perfect 19-for-19 from the new extra-point distance, which ensures his stature as the Jets' clear-cut kicker, assuming he regains his previous prowess.

07/11/16DBDarrelle RevisWristPROBABLERevis (wrist) is listed as day-to-day according to head coach Todd Bowles, ESPN's Rich Cimini reports.

After undergoing offseason wrist surgery, Revis subsequently missed the entirety of the Jets' offseason program with the expectation to return in time for training camp. No setbacks in his rehabilitation have been reported, though, so the Jets are likely just being cautious with their veteran cornerback during the commencement of training camp.

07/11/16WRDevin SmithKneeQUESTIONABLEThe Jets placed Smith (knee) on the active/PUP list Thursday, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.

Smith had torn his ACL last December and was not expected to be ready for the start of training camp. The team has yet to detail any sort of timeline for his return, however, leaving him questionable to play Week 1. Entering his second season in the league, the Ohio State product is expected to assume a larger role on offense in 2016 due to his open-field speed and ability to stretch the field in the passing game.

06/30/16DLSheldon RichardsonSuspensionSUSPENDRichardson (suspension) has been excused from practice and is expected to miss a couple of days for personal reasons, the New York Daily News reports.

Richardson's personal matter will probably prevent him from practicing over the weekend, but his brief upcoming absence has been excused by coach Todd Bowles. Although Richardson is still suspended for Week 1, the Jets should still be looking forward to his return to training camp.
