08/27/16DLQuinton DialKneeQUESTIONABLEDial injured his knee during Friday's preseason loss to the Packers, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

The 49ers are awaiting word on an MRI of Dial's knee, after which a timetable for a return can be charted. In 15 games last season, the defensive tackle notched 59 tackles (32 solo) and 2.5 sacks.

08/27/16WRBruce EllingtonHamstringQUESTIONABLEEllington (ankle) won't play in Saturday's preseason game at Denver, the 49ers' official site reports.

With an ankle sprain in tow, Ellington will be an observer rather than participant in San Francisco's second exhibition outing. His absence should give the likes of Jerome Simpson and DeAndrew White additional targets to work with Saturday.

08/27/16RBCarlos HydeConcussionPROBABLEHyde suffered a concussion in the first half of Saturday's preseason loss to Green Bay, ESPN reports.

Hyde had four carries for 30 yards, including a 27-yard run, before departing. Hyde looks fully healthy after left foot surgery that he underwent prior to the end of the 2015 season. However, the concussion could put his status for the start of the regular season in question.

08/15/16QBThad LewisKneeOUTLewis suffered a torn ACL during Sunday's preseason opener and will now miss the remainder of this season, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.

Lewis was forced out during the third quarter of Sunday's game, when he was the second signal-caller used in wake of Colin Kaepernick (shoulder) being sidelined. However, now that his season has already come to a close, rookie Jeff Driskel should see more reps behind Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert in practice.

07/30/16DLIan WilliamsAnkleNFIWilliams was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

This move was made to make room on the roster for offensive lineman Anthony Davis who was reinstated by the league from retirement Saturday. It remains to be seen when Williams will play again.

08/27/16LBRyan KerriganGroinPROBABLEKerrigan (groin) will undergo an MRI on Saturday, Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports.

Kerrigan strained his groin on the first defensive series of Friday's preseason win over the Bills. Head coach Jay Gruden has already confirmed that he will not play his starters next week against the Buccaneers, giving Kerrigan some much-needed extra rest.

08/27/16RBKeith MarshallElbowQUESTIONABLEMarshall (elbow) will undergo an MRI on Saturday, Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports.

The rookie sprained his elbow in Friday's preseason win over the Bills, ending his night with just one carry for three yards. It was suppose to be a big night for Marshall, as he competes for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart with Robert Kelley. Both Matt Jones and Chris Thompson were sidelined on Friday, leaving Marshall and Kelley to assume most of the first-team reps. The injury could seriously endanger the rookies chances of making the team if he isn't able to participate in the final preseason matchup with the Buccaneers next week.

08/20/16RBMatt JonesShoulderQUESTIONABLEJones worked on the side at Tuesday's practice, CSN Mid-Atlantic reports. "It's feeling pretty good," he said of his left shoulder. "I'm moving fast in my healing process right now. I'm taking big strides."

There have been conflicting reports about the nature of the injury, ranging from an AC joint sprain to a "second degree separation," according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post. In fact, Jones, the running back, has been diagnosed with a second-degree AC sprain. While participation in practice is out of the question for the foreseeable future, his activity on a side field was more focused on his legs than the shoulder, which foretells that the injury is less severe than previously implied. Furthering that belief, he wasn't wearing a sling afterward or appear to be dealing with noticeable pain while sitting at his locker. When Jones was queried about his Week 1 availability, he said he'll "definitely" be available, but only time will tell whether he'll uphold that expectation.

08/09/16WRJamison CrowderHamstringPROBABLECrowder (knee) will not play in Friday's tilt with the Bills.

Crowder has been dealing with a collection of injuries this preseason. He missed practice on Tuesday due to soreness in his knee, and it appears Washington will play it safe and give the wideout the night off on Friday. Crowder will be joined by rookie wideout Josh Doctson (Achilles) on the sideline on Friday, leaving plenty of opportunities for bottom-of-the-depth-chart receivers to make an impact once the starters are taken out.

08/05/16LBSteven DanielsShoulderOUTDaniels will miss the 2016 season after suffering a torn labrum during the first week of training camp, Brian McNally of CBS DC reports.

Daniels, a 2016 seventh-round pick out of Boston College, will undergo surgery Monday to repair the injured shoulder. A long road to recovery awaits the 23-year-old, but he'll hope to make a comeback and secure a roster spot in 2017.

    (Updated 08/06/2016)
07/28/16LBJunior GaletteAchillesNFIGalette will have surgery to repair his torn right Achilles tendon, ruling him out for this season.

Galette's injury was revealed last week, but there remained a small hope that he may be able to avoid surgery and eventually play this year. However, upon since announcing his decision to undergo surgery, Galette can now be ruled out for the entire 2016 campaign, marking his second straight season lost due to an Achilles injury. With Galette sidelined once again, the Redskins will hope Preston Smith can build on his eight-sack rookie season and work with Trent Murphy at Washington's outside linebacker position opposite Ryan Kerrigan.

04/27/16RBSilas ReddSuspensionSUSPENDThe NFL has suspended Redd indefinitely for a violation of the league's Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Bans of this variety are due to continued positive tests, which is evident as Redd has yet to serve a four-gamer for a similar violation due to his recovery from a torn ACL and MCL. Once healthy enough to return to the field, he'll have to bide his time and do his due diligence considering NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will be in charge of any reinstatement effort.
